CDM Group named Josh Prince as president of its portfolio of healthcare agencies, effective earlier this month. Prince assumes co-leadership of the network alongside Group Chairman and CEO Ed Wise. CDM is also eliminating Prince’s old role, chief creative officer.

Prince takes over for Carol DiSanto, who has stepped down from the position of president to assume a “mentoring and leadership growth role” within the organization, Prince told MM&M.

“Carol has been one of the pillars of the CDM group for years,” he explained. “She has been incredible to myself and Ed. She is downsizing a little, but we consider her central to our mission at CDM Group. Carol’s relationships and ability to help our people at all levels grow is critical to our business.”

Prince is well aware of the importance of growth within an organization—2014 marks his 27th year with CDM. Prior to his most recent promotion, he was the agency’s chief creative officer and has been a managing partner since 1997.

“Having come from a writing and creative background, I think there is a lot of potential for using creativity as a business tool to drive better results for clients,” Prince said, “and while I’m not in a creative role [any longer], being on the front line of client challenges allows me to bring the understanding that it’s not just the thinking and planning that we do—but also what we put out into the world.

“At the end of the day,” he shared, “all the planning, thinking, strategizing has to be transmitted to customers, and from a creative background, understanding how people experience brands and experience technology—I think that’s central to what we do and provide to clients.”

Wise and Prince will now “manage the CDM Group from the center,” Prince said, and with the elimination of his old role, Prince said that creative leadership will be managed individually by each agency.

“We have grown and cultivated creative directors and creative leadership at every one of those agencies. I’m going to set the bar for where we want to perform as a company, but the actual performance, at the agency level, will come from those exceptional leaders.”

The CDM Group is comprised of CDM New York, CDM Princeton, AgencyRx, CDMiConnect, Entrée Health New York, Entrée Health Princeton, Link 9, SSCG Media Group, Platform Advisors and CDM World Agency.
