What was your biggest break?

Early on in my copywriting career an owner took a chance on me. Under his mentorship I learned more than in any other job. Users first—thanks, Craig Williams!

Whom do you most admire in your area of work?

I use social media to keep up with my peers. Two of my favorites are Leigh Householder and Cam Bedford. Very smart people.

What's the view like from your office or work area?

I am very lucky in that I have two offices. In Austin we sit on the 11th floor and I peer out to uninterrupted views of the start of Texas Hill Country. In Chicago we're on the 23rd floor on Michigan Avenue, so I get to see Millennium Park and all the way to the South Side, where I'm from.

What books are you reading?

I just finished Dharma Punx, by Noah Levine, and Deal, by Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead. I'm about halfway through Monsters: The 1985 Chicago Bears and the Wild Heart of Football, by Rich Cohen.

If you were to write a book, what would its title be?

Let's Go for a Ride.
