Elsevier has selected Mark Branca to head a new division that will
launch two medical society newspapers in 2005.
In January, Elsevier Society News Group (ESNG), a division of
Elsevier's International Medical News Group (IMNG), will debut the
medical society newspapers ACEP News, the official newspaper of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and Surgery News, the official newspaper of the AmericanCollege of Surgeons.
ACEP News is currently published by the college.                       IMNG will officially take over publication of the newspaper in January, debuting a revamped and redesigned version,
Branca said. Surgery News is an entirely new publication. Its premiere issue will also be delivered in
Branca, who assumes the title of director of new business development, most recently served as managing
director at Entry-Point Marketing.
"The true objective here is to make this new entity the leading resource for medical societies when it comes to medical news and scientific meeting reporting, and, as important, to strengthen the ties between Elsevier and our medical society partners," said Branca.  "As a division within IMNG, we are uniquely positioned to do this. ACEP News and Surgery News are just the first two examples
of the concept in action."
