2. Bristol-Myers Squibb promoted Murdo Gordon to EVP, chief commercial officer, a newly created role. He will now be responsible for a new worldwide commercialization team.  Gordon was previously the co-lead for the company's commercial organization as head of worldwide markets.

3. At least 10 states are weighing whether to force drugmakers to explain and justify new price increases. The proposed legislation would identify drugs whose prices have risen sharply and require manufactures to provide data justifying the new price. (LAT)

4. New research published in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that Takeda's diabetes drug Actos may halt the progression of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, a chronic liver disease. (ScienceDaily)

5. ICYMI: A vaccine for the Zika virus is ready to begin human trials. Inovio Pharmaceuticals and GeneOne Life Sciences said they received approval from U.S. regulators to start testing their vaccine, GLS-5700, in 40 healthy participants. (WaPo)
