MAHF names inductees for 2007

The Medical Advertising Hall of Fame named Bill Castagnoli, Norm Cooper and Lew Miller as its 2007 inductees. Castagnoli began his career with L. W. Frohlich, where he spent 13 years before co-founding Medicus Communications. Over 20 years, Castagnoli helped build Medicus into a medical advertising juggernaut. Following his retirement, he served as contributing editor for MM&M and executive director of the MAHF. Norm Cooper joined Kallir, Philips, Ross in 1965 and spent 30 years at the agency, rising from copy contact executive to CEO and helping build the company into a sprawling unit of Omnicom’s DDB network with a diversified service offering and a fee system of compensation. Miller jumped from newspapers into medical publishing when he joined Medical Economics. In 1966, he and Medical Economics’ director of research, Gus Fink, left the title to launch Patient Care, the first of the “mini-mass” medical journals featuring a more targeted circulation and editorial innovations such as “express stop” reading. Then, in 1988, Miller co-founded Dowden Publishing with Caroll Dowden. He now serves as a principal at CME consultancy WentzMiller & Associates. Castagnoli, Cooper and Miller finished at the top of a list of 21 nominees voted upon by the MAHF's council of judges, made up of leaders of 50 top medical advertising agencies. The MAHF awards dinner will take place on Feb. 13, 2007, at the Pierre Hotel in New York. The MAHF has been honoring leaders in medical advertising since 1997. Forty-four notables have been inducted into the MAHF and four service to industry awards have been made.
