Manufacturers Ilona Surick has assumed a new role as international head, pharmacoepidemiology and risk management, within the global pharmacovigilance group at Eisai. Previously, she was senior director, international pharmacovigilance. Additionally, Stephen Errico has joined Eisai as director, facilities management and engineering, at the Research Triangle Park, NC, facility. His prior experience includes approximately 19 years at Wyeth, where he held various engineering management positions focusing on the delivery of commercial and clinical manufacturing, quality control and R&D lab and central utility buildings. Agencies Abelson-Taylor has hired Brandi Homan as copywriter and Shaina Barnes as manager of clinical information. Homan, who joined the agency in January, will handle copywriting projects for Genentech’s Rituxan (rituximab), an agent for treating non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Barnes will conduct drug research for the account team, interviewing physicians and other experts and searching the clinical literature. She will work on accounts including Cialis (tadalafil), an erectile dysfunction drug marketed by Lilly ICOS; Truvada (emtricitabine-tenofovir disoproxil fumerate), an HIV agent from Gilead Sciences; VESIcare (solifenacin succinate), an overactive-bladder treatment from Astellas Pharma and GlaxoSmithKline; and Actos (pioglitazone), a type 2 diabetes drug from Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Frances Misenas joins Dorland Global Health Communications/San Francisco as VP, account group supervisor. She will be managing the Cyberonics, Valeant and Genitope accounts, as well as supporting West Coast new business efforts.  Pacific Communications has promoted Craig Sullivan to EVP, management director, and Henry Lee to SVP, director of client services. Sullivan joined Pacific Communications two years ago from Abelson-Taylor, where he managed Amgen business. Lee joined Pacific in 2004 from CDM and GSW, where he held several different roles, including managing director , GSW Europe. ProActive, a Chicago-based strategic communications and events agency, has added Randall Simonian and Jeanine Jakelich as market directors. HealthSTAR Educational Systems has announced the appointment of Asya Kogan as SVP, managing director, oncology. Seidler Bernstein has promoted Michelle Boudreau to director, agency operations. Boudreau joined Seidler Bernstein in 1998 as an account manager. She has served as senior account manager and account supervisor before assuming her new role. Suppliers Praxis, a full-service patient recruitment marketing company, has appointed Sandra Hale as director of marketing. In her new position, Hale will lead the development of targeted patient recruitment and retention campaigns for clinical research trials.
