Manufacturers Columbia Laboratories has elected Robert Mills as CEO. Mills joined Columbia in May 2001 as SVP, operations. He was named COO in September 2003 and was appointed president in January 2006, at which time he was also elected to the company’s board of directors. Previously, Mills served as SVP, manufacturing operations, at Watson Pharmaceuticals. During his 30-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, he also served as VP, operations, at Alpharma and held various positions with Aventis. West Coast Biologicals has elected Mark Backer CEO. Backer began working in the biotech industry in 1978, when he was an early employee of Genentech, and initiated its pilot manufacturing operations. He also held development and operations positions of increasing responsibility with Eli Lilly, Idec Pharmaceuticals, Systemix and Aviron (now MedImmune Vaccines). Agencies Cline Davis & Mann has hired Lisa Welsh to fill the newly created role of chief HR officer. Welsh joins CDM from GM The Works, an event and entertainment unit of Interpublic dedicated to General Motors, where she was responsible for the post-merger integration and redesign of HR operations at the company. Suppliers Medsite has named James Follett as COO. Follett previously was COO and acting CEO of NOP World. Follet will oversee all marketing, technology, client service, analytics/profiling, corporate marketing and call center operations. Ryan iDirect’s Ryan TrueHealth has added Jacob Braude as management supervisor. Prior to Ryan TrueHealth, Braude was with FCB Healthcare, where he handled planning and development, as well as internal client communications, for GlaxoSmithKline’s Lamictal, a long-term mood stabilizer for patients with bipolar disorder. Former Dendrite VP Paul Skinner has left to join Authentidate Holding Corp. as VP of sales. Skinner will be responsible for the development and implementation of Authentidate’s corporate sales initiatives as well as customer relationship management. AuthentiDate makes software that authenticates electronic documents.
