MANUFACTURERS BioDelivery Sciences International (BDSI), has hired Al Medwar as VP of marketing. Medwar joins BDSI from EMD Pharmaceuticals, the US subsidiary of Merck KGaA, where he was head of oncology marketing. Prior to joining EMD, he was director of marketing at Triangle Pharmaceuticals, where he managed the strategic and tactical business planning and launch preparation in support of that company’s portfolio of antiviral products for HIV and Hepatitis B. Medwar also served in various capacities in both sales and marketing at Glaxo Wellcome for nearly 10 years, including Product Manager for Wellbutrin SR. He managed strategic planning and tactical execution for the introduction of Wellbutrin SR and launching the opioid analgesic remifentanil (Ultiva). AGENCIES Digitas Health announced the promotion of Larry Mickelberg to EVP. With this promotion, Mickelberg has become part of the executive leadership team of Digitas Health, which unites Medical Broadcasting Company (MBC) with the healthcare practice of Digitas In his new role, Mickelberg will lead business development across the agency’s four offices and also leads corporate and account strategy. Previously, he served as SVP, strategy and enablement at MBC. Natrel Communications announced the following additions: Sharon McCarroll joins the creative department as creative director of copy. Courtney Panka and Megan Griswold join as assistant account executives. Natrel also hired Scott Kim as senior art director and Lee Ann Rattoballi as senior graphic designer. The Navicor Group, an inVentiv Health company and a full-service advertising agency that focuses exclusively on oncology and immunology, named Denise Adams as creative project manager, Jamie Coulson as senior art director and Brieanna Stout as editor. The Hal Lewis Group (HLG) announced three additions to its operations and three promotions. Morgan Shinick joined HLG as senior account executive on the BMS Reyataz account. Lisa McCloskey joins as account coordinator. Brenna Garay has accepted the position of front office assistant. Emily Donato has been promoted from senior account executive to account supervisor. Anne Koerner has been promoted from accounting supervisor to accounting manager. Jenelle Mattson has been promoted from human resources coordinator to human resources manager. MEDIA Renée Martin has been hired to join the MediZine marketing & custom solutions team as the marketing creative director at MediZine. Martin is an award-winning creative director who comes to MediZine after serving as the creative director, marketing services at Better Homes and Gardens. Previously she worked as the marketing art director at Smithsonian Publishing, working on Smithsonian and Air & Space magazines. A graduate of Pratt Institute, she has been recognized by the industry with awards from Advertising Women of NY, MIN Interactive, CEBA and American Graphic Design. SUPPLIERS Nichole Campanale has been promoted to media planner II at CMI Media. Campanale will continue to be responsible for many of the AstraZeneca brands (Seroquel PCP, Seroquel PSYCH, Seroquel Managed Markets, Seroquel LTC, Seroquel Hospital, Nexium, and Zomig).
