MANUFACTURERS ViroPharma has hired Daniel Soland as VP and chief commercial officer. Soland will be responsible for the leadership of the company's commercial infrastructure, including sales and marketing, manufacturing, and commercial and market analysis, along with pre-launch activities for late stage product opportunities. He also will be involved in efforts to expand ViroPharma’s product portfolio through the acquisition of complementary late stage or commercial product opportunities. He joins ViroPharma from his previous post as president of Chiron Vaccines. AGENCIES CommonHealth professional agency Carbon has hired Jeanne Blanchard as EVP, director of client services. Blanchard will be responsible for developing and maintaining Carbon's ongoing client activities, relationships and services. Blanchard brings to the agency nearly 20 years of experience in marketing, sales and business development in the pharmaceutical arena. She previously spent 15 years at Torre Lazur McCann Healthcare Worldwide. AbelsonTaylor has promoted Kristen McGirk to senior account supervisor and named Candy Reed to the position of account supervisor. SUPPLIERS Contract sales firm PDI has hired David Stievater as SVP, emerging pharma. Stievater joins PDI from ImpactRx, a provider of proprietary physician data for measuring pharmaceutical promotional effectiveness.
