Eleven weeks after going generic, Lipitor is holding its ground with a little over a third of the market, according to a research note by Credit-Suisse analyst Michael Faerm. Lipitor sales accounted for 35.8% of the market for the week ended February 17, a minor dip from 36.2% the week ended February 10. This shift is in step with generic Lipitor, which held 63.8% of the market share for the week ended February 17, compared to 64.2% for the same period. Faerm notes that Lipitor captured 23.9% of total statin prescriptions for the week ended February 17, but saw slight erosion in new prescriptions, falling to 28% for the same period, compared with 28.4% for the week before.

Projects in Knowledge released its free HCV Care and Guidance iPhone/iPad app. The hepatitis C app provides peer-reviewed education about direct-acting antiviral treatments and updated HCV infection information. The Centers for Disease control estimates that more than 4 million Americans have chronic viral hepatitis B or C.

Industry research firm Cegedim says its relationship marketing database, OneKey, now includes more than 8 million validated healthcare professional profiles. The company said in a statement that the database includes professionals in over 69 countries. Profiles are updated annually and is managed to adhere to local privacy regulations, according to the company's Web site.
