Sixty-five percent of e-mails are opened on a mobile device. The latest numbers from marketing firm Moveable Ink indicate that mobile use—dominated by smartphones and tablets—continued to rise during 2013, in which Q4’s 65% was a step up from Q3’s rate of 61%.

Where users lived also indicated what devices were used to read e-mail. Texas, for example, ranked the “most smartphone friendly state,” whereas Vermont and Maine were pretty fond of desktops.
