New FDA Twitter feed has diverse following
The FDA's OpenFDA Twitter feed has 75 Twitter followers and one official Tweet as of this writing. The Twitter feed. along with a related website, launched February 27 with a welcome note from Chief Health Informatics Officer Taha Kass-Tout.
The agency says its goal is to be “a valuable resource to those wishing to use public FDA data in both the public and private sector to spur innovation, further regulatory or scientific missions, educate the public, and save lives.”
The agency's plan is to make three types of data accessible and downloadable: adverse events, product recalls and product labeling.
Followers so far include journalists, and self-proclaimed Indiana Hoosiers fan, students and a chief scientist at Lockheed Martin.
