AT&T named Geeta Nayyar, MD its first-ever chief medical information officer. Dr. Nayyar joins from Vangent, Inc., where she was principal medical officer. Previously, she was chief medical officer at APCO Worldwide. She is tasked with plotting strategy for AT&T's ForHealth initiative, which includes the company's electronic medical-record, virtual-health and medical-imaging efforts, and working on the development of new technologies for healthcare.

She practices and teaches as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at the Department of Rheumatology of George Washington University – where, incidentally, she earned an MBA.
