CMS proposes DM prohibition

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have proposed new regulations limiting Medicare “door-to-door marketing” and “cold-calling,” according to a statement.

The rules would expand prohibitions on door-to-door marketing to include “cross-selling of non-healthcare-related products to a prospective [Medicare Advantage] or Part D enrollee,” the statement said. A spokesperson for the CMS said the organization “anticipates the submission of a final version” of the rules this fall. “These proposed changes will have a direct, positive impact on people with Medicare,” said Kerry Weems, acting administrator of the CMS.
