Merck inked a deal with insurance carrier Cigna to provide discounted Januvia and Janumet – both anti-diabetes medications – to Cigna customers based on drug adherence and results. If a given Cigna customer successfully lowers his or her blood sugar on Januvia and Janumet, Cigna will get a discount on the drugs. Additionally, Cigna patients adhering to their Januvia or Janumet regimens will provide the insurer with further discounts, according to a company statement.

 

Roche Madison, a Hoffman-La Roche RNA therapeutics unit, has moved into its new chemistry and biology lab facilities in Madison, Wisconsin's research park. Roche Madison is the result of Roche's purchase of Mirus Bio Corporation in 2008. The site currently employs 45, and plans to hire additional staff over the next year.
