The Department of Justice (DOJ), along with 16 states, has joined in two whistleblower suits filed in the District of Massachusetts against Wyeth. The suits allege that Wyeth knowingly failed to give the government the same discounts it provided to private purchasers of its drugs, as required by law under the Medicaid program. Wyeth allegedly “avoided paying hundreds of millions in rebates due to state Medicaid programs for its drugs Protonix Oral and Protonix IV,” two proton pump inhibitors, according to a DOJ release.

 

Takeda America, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, will acquire IDM Pharma. Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company, will be responsible for global development on Mepact, IDM Pharma's bone cancer drug and primary asset.
