The American Medical Association (AMA) announced that it will cut 100 jobs, or 8% of its staff, according to a Chicago Tribune report. Cuts will be effective by May 4, and will happen at the association's Chicago headquarters and Washington DC offices. The AMA cited the economic downturn as a primary reason for budget restrictions.

 

The Association of Medical Media (AMM) announced that it will not host its annual Doctors' Choice Awards in 2009, due to tough economic times and recent industry trends. AMM's executive committee voted unanimously for the cancellation, but will reconsider the event for 2010.
