Consumer ad spend is bright spot for media owners
Pharmaceutical spending on consumer ads is a rare bright spot for media owners this year, but newspapers are getting short shrift. Spending for the drugs and remedies sector is up 8% for the year so far, according to Universal McCann. But spending on newspaper ads for Rx drugs is down a whopping 188% and outdoor ads slumped a surprising 82%, according to TNS Media Intelligence.
