Livongo Health added diabetes health advocate Manny Hernandez as senior vice president of member experience at the consumer digital health company.

The company aims to help people with chronic diseases by giving them a virtual care team and providing them with tailored care information, according to its website.

Hernandez served as president of the Diabetes Hands Foundation until January. While at the helm of the organization, he used patient communties TuDiabetes.org and EsTuDiabetes.org, which he also founded, to partner with pharma companies to create education and support programs.

Hernandez is “held up as the pinnacle of activism and efficacy in working with the industry in a transparent way that’s a model for other communities,” WEGO Health CEO Jack Barrette said at the time.
