Millennials, of all generational cohorts, would rather talk to their doctor in person than through social media or instant messaging, according to a survey. Capstrat-Public Policy Polling found that 84% of respondents across all age groups said they would not use social media or IM for communication if their doctors offered it, and even among respondents between the ages of 18 and 29, only 21% said they'd take advantage of an online forum. However, respondents were warmer toward the use of digital communications for appointment setting, medical record access and nurse consultation.  

The American Medical Association introduced its first-ever app, a quick-lookup for Current Procedural Terminology billing codes, and launched its “2011 AMA App Challenge to find the next great medical app idea.”

Good Health Media launched an online health video network, BeWell TV. The network aggregates 162 sites with 41 million unique visitors and 350 million monthly impressions, according to ComScore. Good Health Media recently acquired, which was founded by NBC News chief medical officer Nancy Snyderman, MD and surgeon/author Susan Love, MD.
