Eisai announced a new public education effort today for children with epilepsy. “Search for the Next Medikidz Star,” is a contest to try and identify who will be the next child to appear in the comic book series “Medikidz Explain Epilepsy,” the Japanese-based drugmaker announced. The comic book series began in December 2013 to help reduce the stigma around the disease and educate other children. Children aged 13 to 18 years old, who have been diagnosed with epilepsy, can enter the contest at advancingepilepsycare.com, where they can submit a two-minute video describing why they should be the protagonist of the upcoming comic book. Eisai currently makes epilepsy treatment Fycompa, approved in 2012, for patients 12 years and over.
