FDA to host public meeting on communication toolsThe FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) will host a public meeting to obtain input on CDER's outreach and communication tools, including patient and healthcare professional information sheets and other health advisories and agency Web sites.
The hearing will take place on Dec. 7 and 8 in Washington, D.C., the FDA said.
The session will address questions related to documents currently distributed by FDA including patient information sheets, healthcare professional information sheets, public health advisories, press releases, the MedWatch Listserv Safety Updates, Patient Safety News, CDER educational campaigns and the CDER Internet site.
Meanwhile, the FDA has cancelled a series of meetings scheduled for this fall to hear consumer concerns about such "hot-button" issues as drug advertising, conflicts of interest among federal advisors and drug safety. The meetings were to be a chance for former FDA commissioner Lester Crawford to "set the tone that we are very interested in what consumers have to say," an agency spokeswoman was quoted as saying prior to the cancellations.
