The ACCME's December board meeting will feature a roundtable on the future of CME, with the council's seven member organizations, as well as national membership groups, weighing in. The meeting is intended to bring together different facets of the CME community “to establish direct communications with the ACCME board,” said Dr. Murray Kopelow, executive director.

Chris Bolwell, VP, medical affairs & compliance officer, Imedex, was voted president-elect of North American Association of Medical Education and Communication Companies (NAAMECC). He will succeed the current president, Sandra Weaver, next October.

In the third quarter, 1.6 million CME programs were completed on the WebMD Professional Network, an increase of 25% from the prior year period, the company said in a quarterly earnings release.

The health reform bill in the House, as well as one in the Senate, contain sunshine provisions requiring drug firms to report payments for physician speeches and consulting services, The New York Times reported. Legislation would also require an online database patients could search for doctor conflicts of interest.
