The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention partnered with Pri-Med to educate physicians about routine HIV screening and diagnosis. The activity is part of the CDC's Act Against AIDS campaign. Roughly 20% of people with HIV are unaware they have it.

A Cegedim survey showed CME bested other information sources as the one most likely to win physicians over to new treatments. Over 50% of respondents said they intended to prescribe particular drugs after learning about them.

CBI's Forum on Educational Grants, featuring talks on the challenges surrounding commercial support, will take place September 9 at the Doubletree Philadelphia. The meeting is being chaired by Miles McLennan, senior director, medical affairs, Allergan.

KnowledgePoint360 Group launched Lumina, a group of targeted medical communications and strategic services for medical affairs organizations. The tools are designed to help MSLs and others craft strategic medical plans.


SmithBucklin acquired the France Foundation, an accredited CME provider. The foundation will operate as a subsidiary of SmithBucklin and will retain its brand name and CT headquarters.
