The FDA issued a draft blueprint for educating doctors on long-acting and extended-release opioid drugs. It has core messages for CE providers to use in developing materials for training pre­scribers under the required risk evaluation and mitigation strategy (REMS) for the products.

ProMed Communications, a new Chicago-based medical education group spe­cial­izing in programs for the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, will be co-run by Lee Colpi, owner and managing partner of DAW Communications, and Steve Eckert.

Brian McGowan, former Pfizer senior director of education, oncology, in the medical education grants group, has signed a book deal with NoLimit Publishing and expects a fall release of his book on healthcare quality.

had been VP of opera­tions and service delivery.

The Alliance for CME is now the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions, reflecting its new mission: accelerating excellence in healthcare performance through education, collaboration and advocacy.
