GfK Healthcare launched its Managed Markets Practice Area, a new business unit focused on meeting the marketing research needs of pharma clients navigating the managed markets landscape. Custom research services include conducting ad-hoc qualitative projects, mock P&T committee meetings, advisory boards, convention focus groups and executing quantitative projects of any scale or complexity.

Interactive exhibit agency Blue Telescope, was awarded the Silver Summit Creative Award for the design of the “Pfizer Neuroscience Race,” showcased at the APA annual meeting. Blue Telescope created the “Pfizer Neuroscience Race” to serve as the centerpiece of the Pfizer APA booth.

Oscient Pharmaceuticals will layoff 180 from its staff, including its 150-person sales force and approximately 30 other sales and marketing positions, as part a restructuring effort. The layoffs will start in August. The Waltham, MA-based company will also discontinue sales force promotion on two products: Antara (fenofibrate), a cardiovascular drug, and Factive (gemifloxacin mesylate), an antibiotic. The products will continue to be available to physicians and patients.
