Hill & Knowlton named GCI Group’s AnnaMaria DeSalva to head its worldwide healthcare practice. DeSalva, who was previously worldwide managing director of the healthcare practice at GCI Group, the PR arm of WPP’s Grey Global Group, becomes director, worldwide healthcare practice at Hill & Knowlton. Before joining GCI group, DeSalva spent six years at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where she coordinated marketing and government relations teams in Europe to drive reimbursement and adoption of BMS anti-cancer treatments, developed corporate affairs strategy for major Latin American and Asia Pacific markets, and led strategic planning and international health programs at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation. DeSalva’s is the latest in a string of recent high-level moves at the healthcare practices of top PR agencies. She replaces Paul Oestreicher, who left Hill & Knowlton to head the New York office and healthcare practice of Zeno Group, a subsidiary of independent PR firm Edelman. Oestreicher, in turn, replaced Charlotte Wray, who left Zeno Group to launch Mosaic, a new healthcare firm backed by Omnicom’s Brodeur Group. GCI Group has not named a replacement for DeSalva. For the moment, the top executive in the firm’s healthcare practice is EVP healthcare, North America, Bill Martin.
