Hunt selected as AMP executive vice president

Medical media veteran Charlie Hunt was named EVP of the Association of Medical Publishers (AMP), the nonprofit organization representing 225 medical publishing titles, during a meeting of the group last Friday. The position, a new, part-time paid function, will enable Hunt to assist with the day-to-day workings of the association, helping the group “get the message out, ” according to AMP president Art Wilschek Hunt told MM&M, “I think one of the challenges at the AMP is having a cohesive strategic plan. The reason for establishing this position, this year, was to once and for all make sure that all the efforts of the AMP are coordinated, so they can be as effective as possible.” The AMP has been increasing investment in such efforts as its research initiatives and speaking engagements over the past couple of years, Hunt said. “It has come to the point that we’d really like to operate it as a business, in a thought-out plan, rather than as a volunteer organization.” Hunt also serves as managing director at the media investment company DeSilva & Phillips. He has built a distinguished career in the industry over the years as president of PERQ/HCI Research, the healthcare research division of VNU’s PERQ Research and Interactive Markets Systems; publisher of Physicians’ Travel & Meeting Guide magazine at Cahners Medical Publishing; group publisher at PW communication; and publisher at Medical Economics.
