Huntsworth Health agency ApotheCom and patient recruitment and research group Continuum Clinical are teaming up to provide clinical research and medical communications services to clients.

The two organizations announced the partnership on Wednesday morning. They said the global arrangement, spanning all of ApotheCom’s offices in the U.S., U.K., and Asia, will result in new products and services next year.

The two organizations have worked together in the past, and their leaders have known each other for several years, they said in a statement.

“The partnership is designed to formalize the working relationship we already have ongoing and being able to offer additional services to our clients,” said Nathan White, EVP and global lead of the access pathways and outcomes practice at ApotheCom. “It fills in a blank that we had on our side.”

White said the partnership would be like ApotheCom and Continuum “holding hands.” The companies will both collaborate with a client from the beginning to bring the client through the entire evidence and communications process.

Continuum’s services include clinical research expertise like patient recruitment with medical communications and PR. The company specializes in health economics and outcomes research and real-world evidence fields for companies involved in clinical trials. It is based in Chicago.

“Over the years a lot of our clients have either come at the communications and market access issues or come at the evidence issues; only recently has the industry recognized that they need to bring these issues together,” said Jeff Trotter, president at Continuum Clinical. “More life sciences companies seeing they have to do both and our partnership is responding to that.”

ApotheCom has reorganized into three practice areas — medical marketing, scientific communications and publications, and access and outcome — over the past year. Huntsworth Health made agency leadership changes at ApotheCom sister agencies Tonic Life Communications and Nitrogen last month, promoting Maryellen Royle and Jon Clark to CEO roles at the respective firms.

Huntsworth said in its earnings report for the first six months of the year that Huntsworth Health is at the center of its growth strategy, with the division seeing “double-digit growth and market-share gains.” Huntsworth Health reported an 11.4% increase in revenue on a like-for-like basis in the six month period.
