Johnson & Johnson's February 10 West Virginia court date over its vaginal mesh product is looming, and many documents short. The Star-Ledger reports that the company's Ethicon division, which made the Gynecare Prolift and TVT Retropubic meshes, lost or destroyed thousands of documents that discussed the products' development.

The US magistrate judge Cheryl Eifert said it was a matter of negligence, not deliberate destruction, and juries should be allowed to hear about it. Eifert told the Star-Ledger the documents were destroyed as part of the division's file management system.
