Lilly hires HHS’ Azar as top PR

Eli Lilly named Alex Azar SVP corporate affairs and communications. Azar served two years as US deputy secretary of Health and Human Services under secretary Mike Leavitt before leaving government in February. Prior to becoming deputy secretary at HHS, he spent four years as general counsel of the department, having joined the government from the law firm of Wiley, Rein & Fielding and clerked at the Supreme Court for associate justice Antonin Scalia. He reports directly to chairman and CEO Sidney Taurel. Also reporting to Taurel is Anne Nobles, who was promoted to chief compliance officer. Nobles was previously VP, corporate communications.
