Vitae Pharmaceuticals has named Martin Freed as chief medical officer. Freed spent nearly 14 years with GlaxoSmithKline and its predecessor, SmithKline Beecham Pharmaeuticals, most recently as vice president, clinical, in the company's Metabolism Therapeutic area were he led the clinical development of Avandia.

Wyeth has promoted Ulf Wiinberg to senior vice president of Wyeth and president of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals EMEA. Wiinberg was president of Wyeth consumer healthcare. Wiinberg has been with the Company since 1981. Also at Wyeth, Douglas Rogers was promoted to president, Wyeth consumer healthcare. His previous title was president, Wyeth consumer healthcare, U.S.
