MedImmune flu effort has Facebook page, soccer great
The tagline: “Don't wait to vaccinate.”
Dubbed “When Will You Pick,” the campaign, which launched in September, features a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/dontwaitvaccinate) with flu-avoidance tips, a quiz and photos and videos from the campaign.
For every “like” the page gets, the company will donate a dollar (up to $50,000) to support Families Fighting Flu.
The campaign will also have a presence at Women's Professional Soccer games and at local events in communities throughout the soccer season, including Atlanta and Chicago, and MedImmune is an official sponsor of the WPS and the AYSO. Chastain was paired with a doctor for press availabilities around the launch of the effort, talking about the importance of annual flu vaccination.
“My top priority is keeping myself and my family healthy and active all season,” said the mother of two in a statement. “We know that vaccination is the best way to help protect ourselves against the flu, so we make getting a flu vaccine a priority each year, there's no need to wait.”
Fleishman-Hillard is handling public relations.
MedImmune, a subsidiary of AstraZeneca, makes FluMist intranasal vaccine, which is indicated for people age 2-49.
As many as 60 million Americans get the flu each year, said MedImmune, and children ages 2-17 are twice as likely to get it as adults.
