Judges were impressed by April Mitchell's leadership role in the highly successful U.S. launch of Otsuka and Lundbeck's latest atypical anti-psychotic co-promote. Specifically, they expressed appreciation of her ability to build consensus and effectively lead a broad and diverse team of agencies, partners, and colleagues.

The product launched into a crowded category. Mitchell led teams to create a completely fresh approach for this launch. She credits discipline and team empowerment in overcoming every launch challenge.

By all accounts, Mitchell is a gifted motivator and team builder. Associates applauded her for empowering everyone on her team to collaborate, noting she often says, “Every voice matters — if you have a solid rationale, speak out.”

Colleagues also reported her skills at orchestrating direct communications and her tenacity, which directly impacted the product's extraordinary entry.

Prior to joining Otsuka, Mitchell held marketing roles in diverse pharma categories as well as brand- and product-management roles for consumer packaged-goods giants Kraft Foods and Colgate-Palmolive.

Outside work she's active in guiding students to her alma mater, the University of Pennsylvania.
She also advises entrepreneurs — gratis — on how to effectively build business plans, secure funding, and more.
