Nearly half of all US women and 40% of US men are currently using, or have recently used, a prescription drug, according to data released by the National Center for Health statistics.The information comes from a survey that found 54% of white non-Hispanic women and 43% of white non-Hispanic men had used an Rx drug within the past month, according to a Reuters news report. Fewer blacks and Hispanics used prescription medications, according to results of the survey conducted between 1999 and 2002. Nearly 44% of black women and 35% of black men reported using prescription drugs, the survey found. About 38% of Mexican-American women and nearly 26% of Mexican-American men also reported using Rx medications.
