Biogen Idec announced the promotion of Robert Hamm to chief operating officer. Hamm had been EVP, pharmaceutical operations and technology at Biogen Idec since 2007. As COO, Hamm replaces Hans Peter Hasler, who is leaving the company. Hamm will add global business operations to his responsibilities, effective immediately, the company said in a statement.
