Peer-reviewed journal launches

The Journal of Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology (JAYAO) launched its inaugural issue in May 2011. The peer-reviewed journal highlights the unique treatment issues and concerns of the group of cancer patients in their adolescence and young adulthood, which the National Cancer Institute defines as individuals aged 15-39 years.
“To truly advance care for this population, [adolescent and young adult] oncology must be recognized as a distinct subspecialty, with a professional organization and publication to support it,” says JAYAO editor-in-chief Leonard S. Sender, MD.
The content of JAYAO's first issue is currently available for free online.
