MANUFACTURERS Allergan has named F. Michael Ball president. Ball joined Allergan in 1995 serving as corporate VP and president, North America. Matthew Ruth has joined Avanir Pharmaceuticals in the newly created role of VP of sales. Prior to joining Avanir, Ruth was the western regional director of sales for Allergan Pharmaceuticals. MedImmune has named R. Michael Smullen SVP, sales. Smullen joined MedImmune in 1994 as VP, sales. Prior to that, he served as national sales director for Synergen. Cylene Pharmaceuticals has named Larry Witte chief scientific officer. Witte most recently served as VP of research, and as a member of the Executive Steering Committee, at ImClone Systems. AGENCIES Ignite Health has appointed Ross Fetterolf account supervisor. Prior to joining Ignite, Fetterolf was with the West Coast office of the Philadelphia-based Medical Broadcasting Company, where he worked on full-service accounts for Wyeth and Amgen. MBS/Vox, the research-based consultancy unit of CommonHealth, has named Brad Davidson VP, account group director. Integrated Communications Corporation has promoted Anthony Mastrangelo to VP, medical director. FCB NY has hired Mike Rutstein as EVP, account management, focusing on consumer healthcare. He was hired from JWT, where he was senior partner, managing director of consumer healthcare. KPR has promoted Robin Roberts to EVP, director of client services Sudler & Hennessey US has announced a staff reorganization in its creative department. Rob Rogers has been appointed chief creative officer, Joe Garamella has been promoted to executive creative director, and Kathy Jenkins has joined in the newly created role of brand catalyst. MEDIA Advanstar Communications has named John Currid account manager for Geriatrics, a journal for delivering evidence-based medicine. Steven Anthony has been named national sales director of Drug Topics, a pharmacy newsmagazine. Anthony joins Advanstar from The McGraw-Hill Companies Healthcare Group. Ascend Media’s medical division has named Joseph Frank Jr. national sales director to Resident & Staff Physician and Cardiology Review. Prior to joining Ascend Media, Frank worked in the Healthcare Division at Wolters Kluwer Health, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. SUPPLIERS Terrell Herring has been named CEO of Ventiv Commercial Services. Reporting directly to Herring is Tristen Herrstrom, newly appointed EVP, resource management. Paul Mignon has been named COO of Ventiv Pharma Teams. Bill Shearer has been named COO of Ventiv Pharma Services. Dave Bassin has been named CFO for Ventiv Commercial Services. Lisa Dzieglewicz has been promoted to marketing manager for Ventiv Commercial Services.
