Alliant Pharmaceuticals, a pediatric specialty pharmaceutical
company, has appointed Allen Fields as VP, research and
development, and Pete Joiner as director, national accounts.
Bristol-Myers Squibb has announced the promotion of John Celentano
to president, Health Care Group. In this new assignment, Celentano
will have responsibility for all the company’s non-pharmaceutical
businesses, including Mead Johnson Nutritionals, ConvaTec and
Bristol-Myers Squibb Medical Imaging.
AGENCIES
CommonHealth has announced the promotions of four of its senior
staffers to president of their respective units: Darlene Dobry to
president, Carbon; John Nosta to president, Noesis; Michael Parisi
to president, Altum; and Shaun Urban to president, Solara.
Interlink Healthcare Communications promoted Steve Lederman and
hired Patrick Boyce and Todd Juro. Lederman has been named VP and
director of production services, where he will be responsible for
day-to-day management of the agency’s Multimedia Group. Boyce is
Interlink’s new senior Web developer. Previously, he worked in Web
development consulting for Wyeth. Juro, a multimedia specialist,
has had 15 years of experience as a staff and freelance designer
specializing in interactive multimedia, animation, Web site design
and production for a wide range of clients.
Adient, CommonHealth’s professional advertising and promotion
agency, has announced the addition of three new hires. Deborah
Hughes joins Adient as VP, group creative director. Most recently,
Hughes worked at Torre Lazur McCann as VP, group creative director.
Anne Squadrito is a new VP, associate creative director, at Adient.
Squadrito comes to the company from Torre Lazur McCann, where she
was an associate creative director. Al Zowada will serve as a new
business manager at Adient. Prior to this, Zowada was a production
coordinator at Sandy Alexander Inc.
Palio Communications has announced the appointments of Eric Rivera
as VP/account director, Stephanie Robbins as account coordinator,
and Dawn Ronaldo as account executive. Prior to joining the Palio
team, Rivera was VP, program development, at Postgraduate Institute
for Medicine.
Interbrand Wood Healthcare New York has appointed Beatrice (Bunny)
Ellerin as managing director responsible for the rxmark brand
research business. Ellerin joins from PPD Inc, where she was
previously executive director of online marketing and education.
The West Coast agency of Torre Lazur McCann has announced the
appointment of Randy Morris as creative director. Prior to joining
TLM West, Morris spent seven years providing freelance creative
service to Allergan, and from 1988 to 1998 was associate creative
director/art for Pacific Communications.

Covance, a comprehensive drug-development services company,
announced that Edgar Adams has joined the company as executive
director of epidemiology. Previously, Adams spent 23 years as a
commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service,
eventually as director of the division of Epidemiology and
Prevention Research at the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Before
joining Covance, he consulted to the biopharmaceutical industry on
the design, assessment and implementation of risk minimization
action plans, postmarketing surveillance, drug scheduling
(nationally and internationally) and drug abuse epidemiology.
Gentris Corporation, a global provider of applied clinical
pharmacogenomic services and diagnostic product solutions,
announced that Scott Clark has been promoted to VP of research and
development from the position of executive director of scientific
affairs. Gentris has also recruited scientist Heath Knight, as VP
of business development. Clark will be responsible for Gentris’
scientific strategy and will manage the Clinical Genetics Research
and Development division. Knight has more than 13 years of experience and
has held senior management positions at prominent contract research organizations, including Lark Technologies, Commonwealth Biotechnologies and RTI International.
MEDIA
Quadrant Healthcom’s The Female Patient, a peer-reviewed journal,
has announced the appointment of Vivian Dickerson as editor in
chief, beginning in January 2006. The journal’s previous editor in
chief, Thomas Nolan, has left the post after 14 years of service.
Dickerson has served as an associate editor of TFP’s advisory board
since 1999.
CMP Healthcare Media announced that Ronald Pies, clinical professor
of psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and
psychiatric textbook author, has been named science content editor
of Psychiatric Times.
Milos Opravil, a physician and researcher, has been named by Thomas
Land Publishers as the editor in chief of the independent journal
HIV Clinical Trials (HCT). Opravil will succeed Maurice Staquet,
HCT’s founding editor in chief, who will continue to serve on HCT’s
editorial board.
Ascend Media announced the addition of two executives to its
management team. Mark Brockelman has joined the company as VP/CFO. Brockelman most recently served as VP of finance and chief accounting officer for American Media. Dennis Triola will serve as president of the
company’s Allied Healthcare division.
