Relationship marketing firm MicroMass Communications announced a number of senior hires in its creative and strategic services groups. The new hires include Dave Rockenbaugh and Gina Pettaris, both associate creative directors, and James Pietz, vice president, interactive strategy. Pietz’s past experience at imc2, Ketchum, and Ogilvy & Mather includes interactive marketing and communications solutions for a variety of accounts, including Eli Lilly and Company, Abbott Laboratories, the American Diabetes Association, GlaxoSmithKline, Procter & Gamble, and Shire. Pettaris leads one of the agency’s four creative teams. Before joining MicroMass, Pettaris had 15 years of experience leading creative teams on accounts ranging from beverages, such as Absolut and Chivas, to pharmaceuticals, including Crestor and Nasonex. She’s also worked on two widely known toy and leisure accounts, Barbie and The Walt Disney Company. As associate creative director and writing services manager, Rockenbaugh leads the content services group — a 17-member team of editors, content strategists, copy writers and proofreaders. Rockenbaugh joins MicroMass’ team of creative leaders, Michael Berliner, Emily Loi-Givens and Gina Pettaris. With nearly 30 years in the marketing industry, Rockenbaugh comes to MicroMass from OgilvyOne, where he was associate creative director for four years before taking a small break to complete his novel. Before OgilvyOne, Rockenbaugh was creative director for Jennings in Chapel Hill, N.C. Rockenbaugh’s career accomplishments include leadership in the development of award-winning copy for accounts such as IBM, Citibank, FedEx, Kodak, Kraft, American Express and Krispy Kreme.
GSW Worldwide, an inVentiv Health company, recently promoted Glenn Davis to VP, associate creative director, in its New York City Office. In this position, he will be responsible for supervising creative teams on assigned accounts while leading the creative process for new business initiatives. Davis has been an associate creative director at GSW since 2005, helping develop the launch campaigns as well as other campaigns and new business initiatives. Before joining GSW Worldwide, Davis served as art supervisor for Euro RSCG Life, where he developed creative campaigns for accounts such as Bausch and Lomb's Zylet and Pfizer's Oporia. He also served as vice president, creative director, at Catapult Direct Marketing. Davis also previously served as a freelancer for agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare, KPR and Cline, Davis & Mann.
Ogilvy Healthworld has appointed Cameron Munro, EVP, managing director in the company’s professional advertising division. Munro joins Ogilvy from Lyons Lavey Nickel Swift where he was SVP, management group supervisor, working on oncology, anti-infectives and alzheimer’s products.

Judy Doo has been promoted to VP/management supervisor at Pacific Communications. Doo is responsible for daily group account and client management while overseeing the account teams for Allergan’s facial aesthetics portfolio—Botox Cosmetic, Juvederm Cosmoderm/Cosmoplast—and physician-dispensed skin care products. Prior to her promotion, Doo was the account group supervisor for Botox Cosmetic and Juvederm. She has been with the agency eight years. Kate Julian has been promoted to account group supervisor. Julian is responsible for managing the account teams for Botox Cosmetic and dermal fillers. She has been with the agency for more than two years; her previous role was account supervisor for Botox Cosmetic. Norma Avitia has been hired on as account supervisor for Juvederm. Avitia is responsible for the day-to-day account management for professional promotion of Juvederm. She comes from Rhea & Kaiser Marketing Communications in Chicago where she was responsible for developing integrated marketing and communications strategies supporting multiple product lines, including the launch of two products.
Stonefly Communications Group, an inVentiv Health company recently named Jim Johnson executive creative director. Johnson joins Stonefly Communications Group with over 20 years experience developing and executing creative solutions for major global brands. Most recently, he served as SVP, global creative director at Grey Worldwide. He also served as creative director at Wells, Rich, Greene; BDDP, New York; and Saatchi & Saatchi in New York and Frankfurt. Throughout his career, Johnson has worked with clients such as P&G, Gallo Wines, General Mills and Johnson & Johnson. In his global position, he was responsible for creating, supervising and coordinating advertising that ran in more than 50 countries.
Blue Diesel, an inVentiv Health company, recently promoted Matt Means to VP, creative director. In this position, he will be responsible for providing creative direction for day-to-day creative operations, new business development and marketing plans. Since joining Blue Diesel in 2001, Means has worked as associate creative director, art director and senior interactive designer. He has served as a creative leader for a variety of print and interactive projects and a principal contributor in developing new business.
Michael Pruskowski recently joined Boomerang Pharmaceutical Communications as eMarketing director. In his new role, Pruskowski is responsible for strategy development, ROI analysis and tactical implementation of online programs. He was previously with Xchange, a division of CommonHealth, where he led a digital CRM/DM practice specializing in professional and consumer healthcare programs.
After more than 30 years with Modern Healthcare, longtime publisher Charles Lauer announced his retirement effective Feb. 2. Lauer was the magazine's editorial director and VP of publishing, as well as a VP within Crain Communications (Modern Healthcare's parent company). Previously, Lauer served as publisher of Modern Healthcare from 1976 until 2005. Known throughout the healthcare industry and beyond, Lauer has also added author, public speaker and award-winning businessman to his many titles. Lauer plans to remain active in the healthcare industry -- he will continue to write his column, “Lauer's Letter,” which appears weekly in the magazine's op-ed section, serve on the boards of several healthcare organizations and continue his widely popular corporate speaking engagements. Lauer also may work with Modern Healthcare on selected special projects and events, Crain Communications said.
