Merz USA named Jack Britts president and CEO. Britts joins from Sepracor, where he was most recently group VP in charge of commercial operations, responsible for the commercialization of Lunesta. He replaces Terry Conrad, who has left the company. 
 
Dorland Global named Cheryl Makopoulos as its VP, management supervisor. Makopoulos joins the agency from GlaxoSmithKline, where she was senior product manager for Boostrix. She will be responsible for managing three key accounts and working on new business acquisition efforts. 
 
National Institutes of Health director Dr. Elias Zerhouni is stepping down from the post in October. Zerhouni’s more than six-year tenure at NIH was marked by a long congressional investigation into conflicts of interest among agency scientists, resulting in a ban on consulting deals between NIH scientists and pharma or device companies, and his development of the NIH Roadmap for Clinical Research.
