Joanna Breitstein, executive editor of Pharmaceutical Executive and co-founder of the i.HUG Foundation, which aids disadvantaged and orphaned children in Uganda, is leaving the Advanstar title for TB Alliance, where she will be communications manager. The TB Alliance aims to speed development and discovery of TB treatments. Funders include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UK Department for International Development, and the US Agency for International Development. 

 

Sloning, a biotech headquartered in Germany with North American offices in California, appointed Garry Merry to vice president, commercial operations. Prior to Sloning, Merry held several executive sales and marketing positions at Applied Biosystems, Millipore and Qiagen.

 

AbelsonTaylor named three new senior account executives: William Long and Michelle Samenfeld were promoted to senior account executive – both were previously account executives. Alison Gustafson was rehired as senior account executive, after a brief leave of absence. Gustafson will report to Skip Thurnauer, senior account supervisor. In his new role, Long will support a major brand in women's health, among other duties, and report to Jay Carter, SVP, director of client services. Samenfeld will support women's health and digestive diseases, and report to Diana Servatius, senior account supervisor, and Shana Liberman, account supervisor.
