Christian Lajoux was appointed president of Sanofi-Aventis, in France. Lajoux was previously president and general manager of pharmaceutical operations in France. He will report to Hanspeter Spek, vice president. Prior to Sanofi, Lajoux worked for the Sandoz Group, now a part of Novartis.

Facebook appointed David Ebersman to chief financial officer. Ebersman was formerly EVP and chief financial officer at Genentech, which was recently acquired by Roche. Ebersman will report to CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg.

Rib-X Pharmaceuticals, a manufacturer focused on antibiotics, appointed Russell Greig to its board of directors. Greig is president of SR One, GSK's venture capital arm. Prior to SR One, Greig was president of GSK's pharmaceuticals internal, and also served on GSK's corporate executive team.
