Arena Pharmaceuticals, announced that Phillip Schneider and Randall Woods were appointed to its board of directors. Schneider is the former CFO of IDEC Pharmaceuticals Corporation. During his 15-year tenure at IDEC, he served as SVP and CFO. Woods is CEO and a member of the board of directors of Sequel Pharmaceuticals. Woods was also CEO of NovaCardia prior to its acquisition by Merck. Previously, Woods served approximately eight years as the CEO of Corvas International. He was also president of Boehringer Mannheim's US pharmaceutical operations and spent approximately 20 years at Eli Lilly in sales and marketing positions.

Wolters Kluwer Health, a division of Wolters Kluwer, has named Gregg Ciarelli VP for the Source line of sales effectiveness products in the division's Pharma Solutions business. Ciarelli brings more than 20 years' experience supporting marketing and sales environments at pharmaceutical and consumer products companies. In his new position, he is responsible for development and innovation of the sales effectiveness products, primarily geared at helping pharmaceutical companies manage targeting and compensation activities. For the past decade, Ciarelli has been with Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals in Ridgefield, CT. Most recently, as executive director, sales administration, he was responsible for sales force optimization, incentive compensation CRM project management and data acquisition. He also led sales operations which included sales force communications speaker program and fleet administration. During his career, Ciarelli was also responsible for business analytics for the branded and generics (Roxane Laboratories) business. Previously, Ciarelli was associate director of finance at Purdue Pharma in Stamford, CT, for three years. Earlier in his career, he held financial and business planning positions in consumer products for Kraft General Foods, Nabisco and Tropicana.

Customer relationship management applications provider StayinFront, has appointed Yatin Dhagat as managing director of its offshore development center StayinFront India Pvt. Limited. A seasoned global software executive with 25 years of experience with organizations like VBSoft, DATAMAS, and Tata Elxsi, Dhagat has been involved in software delivery, professional services, operations management, sales and marketing, and project management.
