Biogen Idec announced the promotion of Robert Hamm to chief operating officer. Hamm had been EVP, pharmaceutical operations and technology at Biogen Idec since 2007. As COO, Hamm replaces Hans Peter Hasler, who is leaving the company. Hamm will add global business operations to his responsibilities, effective immediately, the company said in a statement.

 

Endo Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharma focused primarily on pain medications, has appointed Nancy Hutson to the company's board of directors. Hutson retired from Pfizer in 2006, after 25 years with the company, most recently serving as SVP, Pfizer global research and development, and director of Pfizer's pharmaceutical R&D site, Groton/New London Laboratories. Hutson is currently a director of Cubist Pharmaceuticals and Inspire Pharmaceuticals.

 

Intouch Solutions, a digital marketing communications agency focused on the pharmaceutical industry, announced two appointments: Mary Doherty to vice president, client services, and Steve Wright to senior director of development. Doherty's position was effective February 16—she is based out of Intouch's Chicago office. Wright is based at the company's corporate headquarters in Kansas City, and will report to founder and CEO Faruk Capan.
