Wyeth received FDA approval for a new indication on Tygacil, a pneumonia drug. The additional indication was approved for adult patients with community-acquired bacterial pneumonia.
A New York federal judge has asked the FDA to make Plan B, an emergency contraceptive, available to 17-year-olds within 30 days. US District Judge Edward Korman also asked the agency to review whether to make the product available for girls of all ages, without a prescription. Plan B is manufactured by Barr Pharmaceuticals, a division of Teva Pharmaceuticals.
