1. Walgreens Boots Alliance has partnered with pharmacy benefit manager Prime Therapeutics to launch a retail pharmacy network that seeks to lower drug costs for the PBM's customers. Prime Therapeutics is owned by 14 Blue Cross and Blue Shield health plans. (Fortune)

2. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton proposed a plan to integrate mental and physical health systems in new payment models for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries if she is elected. She said she plans to convene a White House conference on mental health issues during her first year in office. (Politico)

3. Boehringer Ingelheim and Qualcomm Life announced a collaboration to create a wireless, low-power, disposable module for the drugmaker's Respimat inhaler for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Patients prescribed the Respimat medicine can share data collected from the inhaler using Qualcomm's connectivity platform with their healthcare providers.

4. Martin Shkreli, former CEO of KaloBios Pharmaceuticals, liquidated his stake in the firm, ending ties with the rare-disease drugmaker as a shareholder. The controversial pharma entrepreneur sold shares worth a total of about $5.9 million, according to a regulatory filing. (WSJ)

5. The number of drugs developed to treat heart disease has decreased despite the fact that the disease is a leading cause of death worldwide. Between 2005 and 2012, only 5% of cardiovascular drugs reached Phase I clinical trials, compared to 16% between 1990 and 1995. (International Business Times)
