South Beach Diet online publisher to compete with WebMD, About Health

Online publisher Waterfront Media plans on going to the mat with consumer healthcare heavyweights WebMD and About Health by launching The new Web site provides consumers with health and wellness information from its 40 condition channels and features blog postings on various topics from 14 physician specialists. In the near future, the site will roll out customized user options including meal plans, shopping lists and blood sugar and cholesterol trackers. A unique mix of user options is what sets apart from the competition, Waterfront officials told MM&M. “There are many places on the Web to look for medical conditions and general information but what was needed was a site that could help people manage their conditions after they have been diagnosed,” said Ben Wolin, Waterfront CEO. drew over three million unique users while in beta testing in September, company officials said. Eli Lilly and AstraZeneca are among those with ads already on the site, which officially went live last week.
