Healthcare reform may be in full swing, but for Kathleen Sebelius and her career as HHS head, it has stopped. The Health and Human Services Secretary announced Friday that she was resigning.

President Barack Obama has proffered Sylvia Mathews Burwell to take Sebelius’s place.

Although Healthcare.gov’s failed launch has been considered a major motive for Sebelius’s departure, the HHS Secretary told the Associated Press that she had decided to leave soon after the 2012 election, but that she opted to hang on until enrollment hit its first milestone.

Sebelius hit the media circuit Sunday, and told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the time line launching Healthcare.gov was wrong and it needed more testing.

“If I had a magic wand and could go back to mid-September and ask different questions based on what I know now, I would,” she said. “I thought I was getting the best information from the best experts but clearly that didn’t go well.”

Politico characterized her departure as an “everybody wins” situation because she was able to with a redemption-style storyline: the maligned Healthcare.gov launch, followed by the 7.1 million enrollments by the end.
