After exploring PR, Kirsty Whelan became interested in the potential of digital and social media to allow brands to speak directly to audiences. At Pure Communications (later acquired by Real Chemistry), Whelan launched a social and digital media practice before then joining Imre in 2010, as the manager of its new social marketing practice. Her emphasis on empathy and optimism has helped brands within AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer reach stakeholders. That has, in turn, contributed to Imre’s 15% growth during a tumultuous 2020. Whelan is also a passionate supporter of House of Ruth, one of the nation’s most comprehensive domestic violence centers.
